How Delirium Academy handles information when you use this website.

Last updated: 13 September 2026

About this website

Delirium Academy is an independent personal educational project created by Professor Alasdair MacLullich. Professor MacLullich is responsible for the operation of this site.

For privacy questions, please use the contact details on Professor MacLullich’s University of Edinburgh profile.

Information handled when you visit

The website does not require registration, a learner account or an email address, and it currently has no contact forms. The hosting and security services used to deliver and protect the site may process ordinary technical information such as an IP address, request date and time, requested page, and browser or device information. Those providers retain information as required to run and protect their services and meet legal obligations.

Google Analytics

Delirium Academy uses limited Google Analytics 4 only to produce statistics about overall website use and improve the educational material. It loads only after you allow statistics cookies in the privacy choices. Analytics is not used for advertising; Google Signals and advertising personalisation are disabled.

Analytics is optional. You can withhold or withdraw consent at any time through the site’s privacy choices. Your choice does not affect access to any teaching material or knowledge check.

Google may process analytics information outside the United Kingdom under its applicable data-protection arrangements. Analytics information is retained according to the settings applied to the Delirium Academy Google Analytics property.

Knowledge checks and completion records

Across all five modules, quiz answers and your place can be saved in this tab for the current browser session, when browser storage is available. This lets you reload a page or return to a module in the same tab. Closing the tab normally ends the session, although browser restore features may bring it back. Use the clear-answers control in a module to remove its saved answers and place. If saving is unavailable, the quiz still works while the page remains open. Names and completion records are not saved by this feature. Quiz answers, names and scores are not sent to Delirium Academy.

If you create or print a completion record, the name and result are inserted into the page locally for printing. Delirium Academy does not receive a copy.

Cookies and privacy choices

The site stores the information needed to run the privacy settings and remember your choice. Google Analytics may set first-party cookies beginning _ga, limited by this site to 90 days. Delirium Academy has no advertising, does not use information for targeted advertising and does not sell personal data.

If you reject analytics, the site removes its Google Analytics cookies and does not load Analytics on later pages. You can reopen the settings at any time to turn analytics off or on.

Service providers and international processing

Technical information may be processed by providers that operate and protect the website, including 10Web, and by Google when limited analytics is active. These providers may process information in countries outside the United Kingdom, using their applicable contractual and legal safeguards.

Your rights

UK data-protection law may give you rights over your personal data, including rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction and objection. You can withdraw consent to analytics through the privacy settings without affecting earlier lawful processing.

You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Because Delirium Academy does not create learner accounts or retain quiz information, it may not be possible to identify an individual visitor from an analytics or server record alone.

External links and changes

This website links to other organisations and websites. Their own privacy practices apply after you follow an external link.

This notice will be updated if the website’s services or use of information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
