About Delirium Academy
Delirium Academy is a growing collection of free delirium education for healthcare professionals, care staff and students.
What you will find here
The Academy brings together short, practical modules about delirium. The collection will grow over time. Each module focuses on a defined topic and combines teaching materials, supporting resources in a range of formats and a self-test with feedback at the end.
The Academy is intended for anyone learning about, recognising or caring for adults with delirium across health and care settings. Individual modules identify any setting-specific limits.

All materials currently published on Delirium Academy are free. You do not need to register, create an account or provide an email address.
Delirium Academy does not currently provide formal CPD certification. This may be introduced in the future.

Delirium Academy was created by Professor Alasdair MacLullich, Professor of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, Consultant Physician and co-developer of the 4AT.

Clinical authorship and review
All clinical content is authored and finally reviewed by Professor Alasdair MacLullich, a practising consultant geriatrician and Professor of Geriatric Medicine. His personal website, University profile, publication record and ORCID record provide further information about his clinical and academic work.
Each module gives its scope, version, review date and principal sources. Clinical statements are checked against recent peer-reviewed research and authoritative guidance. References link to PubMed or the original guidance so readers can examine the source directly.
Review schedule: the current site content was clinically reviewed on 8 August 2026. The next formal review is due by 8 August 2027, or sooner if important guidance or safety information changes. Material corrections are made as soon as they are confirmed.

How AI tools were used
AI tools supported source organisation, language and design checks, quiz review and structured simulated audits. They were also used to simulate geriatric medicine, nursing and medical education review perspectives. These simulations were additional checks and are not independent external peer review. Final editorial decisions and clinical responsibility remain with Professor MacLullich.
AI-generated clinical video simulations are labelled beside the media and accompanied by captions and transcripts. They do not show real patients or staff.
Clinical use and safety
Delirium Academy is an educational resource, not patient-specific medical advice or a substitute for professional assessment, local policy or emergency procedures. Users should work within their role and use the appropriate local clinical and medicines guidance. Acute deterioration requires urgent clinical assessment and the relevant emergency response.
Independence and licensing
Delirium Academy has no adverts, sponsorship, industry involvement or external funding. Unless otherwise stated, original educational text is available under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Third-party resources, including the 4AT, retain their own terms.
Privacy in the modules
No learner account is required. Names, answers and scores used in the modules are processed only in the current browser page and are not sent to or stored by Delirium Academy. Hosting and security services may retain ordinary access logs, but these do not contain quiz answers or the name entered on the completion record.
